Deck Chairs on the Titanic

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 4:28 PM

Americans don't need me to terrify them. That job is actually being done quite well by President Barack Hussein Obama. Investors are so terrified that they have been refraining from investing, bringing the stock market down in a death spiral. The alternative to fear, unfortunately, is denial and dithering, the "deer in the headlights" syndrome.

Americans must face harsh realities, and I have been noticing something as I communicate with the "good guys" on Twitter.

What I have noticed is represented by the banal old metaphor, "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic." If it had been possible to liveblog the Titanic disaster, and I had been on board, I would have been tweeting:

What I have noticed, and the syndrome seems to become more intense the closer one gets to the inner core of the Republican Party, is an obsession with "business as usual" party-building. Perhaps I am wrong, but I get the impression that many of the conservatives and libetarians on Twitter need a reminder of the following facts:

  1. The "progressives" have hijacked all of our institutions of higher education, which they are using as loudspeakers for their incessant propaganda.
  2. The "progressives" have hijacked our mainstream media for the same ends.
  3. The "progressives," over the last century, have won over most of the traditional Republican politicians to accept their main "progressive" premises, which include fiat money, deficit spending, Robin Hood economics, and steady, inexorable, and irreversable erosion of the Constitution in the name of pragmatism and "compassionate" conservatism.
  4. The "progressives" have hijacked the United States Treasury, distorting the democratic processes which are in place to prevent such a disaster, and by ramming through an "emergency stimulus" bill so full of unconstitutional measures that it will take decades to identify them and take constitutional action against them, if there is even anyone left to bother.
  5. The "progressives" have infiltrated the loyal opposition party, the GOP, with a fifth column whose role is to neutralize the opposition and render it ineffectual. Such names as Specter, Snowe, Collins, Schwarzenegger, and Maldonado come to mind, but there are may more.
  6. The "progressives" have so cowed and intimidated Congress and the Supreme Court, that there is no one in either branch of government who dares demand that a seated president of the US present a genuine birth certificate, in place of a bit of Photoshop flim-flam, and a mysterious statement by a health department. (There is only one exception to date, a courageous Senator from Alabama.)

Who are those "progressives" to which I refer above? Let them speak for themselves.

The great ship is taking on water fast. The time for deck chair arrangement is past. America needs a Republican Party that will fight fiercely for the Constitution. There is no room for RINOs in the lifeboat. It is not enough to hope that conservatives will win back Congress in 2010 and the White House in 2012, and that the RINOs will be voted out of office. We must make it happen, and we must take action now to be certain that it happens.

What then, can be done? A starting point is to read and reread the six points I wrote above, and let them sink in. I must do that myself, even though I wrote them. They are terrifying, but fear and denial will not help at this time. Next, we all, me included, must read and re-read the Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights. That document is our lifeboat, which is exactly why there is no room for RINOs, who are fundamentally people who do not take the Constitution seriously enough. We must then take back our schools, our colleges, our dollar, our Republican Party, and our Presidency as defined by the Constitution.

A lot of work? You betcha. Worth thinking about? You betcha. Worth doing? You betcha.
